I have a 2016 Rotax 912ULS and I would like to install an ammeter shunt and a manifold pressure sensor but I have no idea where they go. Can anyone help? I've tried research but could not turn up anything. If it matters, the sensors are Dynon.

    Hi Ed,
The MAP isn't a necessity for the ULS. It's more fitting for in flight adjustable props and the turbo, but it won't hurt either. The MAP hose goes on the small nipple sticking out of the left side of the carb balance tube. Then just route it inside the instrument panel to your sensor and then the wire to the Dynon. The shunt many times is also mounted inside the panel, but some do get mounted in the engine compartment on the fire wall with a cover on it. The shunt has two large wires on each end for the main power and two small wires on each end. The two small wires are for the ammeter.

The Dynon Skyview Installation Manual has a section that discusses shunt placement. There are three options, based on what you want to monitor. Some would argue that a shunt is not a very useful addition to the electrical system, and that monitoring system voltage will give a better indication of system health.

Thanks guys. The manifold pressure is needed because I will be installing a variable-pitch propeller. The shunt is not but I figured might as well install it too; it's cheap.

I do remember a hose barb with a dollop of red paint on it on top somewhere. I assume I just unscrew the screw that's sealing it and slip the hose over...?

I apologize in advance for asking such a basic question, but what kind of hose do I use for manifold pressure? All the Dynon documentation says is 1/4" ID but I don't know what material hose is needed, or what sort of barb fittings are appropriate if I use them.

It's just vacuum hose that you can get from any automotive store.
