started engine after 3-4 month sitting. oil pressure was at 45. then 20 sec or so later a flashing red light on dash started. noticed oil pressure on engine display was dropping. killed eng,
1) no air leaks in intake lines.
2) removed oil reservoir it was quite clean.
3) disconnected intake line at oil pump. verified no blockage
4) checked regulator looks fine
5) oil pump appears fine removed cover and verified impeller movement when pro is turned a few degrees
Anyone have any idea of where to look next?
Will 912 lose its oil prime if it sits for a few months? I never heard of that.

Have you changed the oil since the last flight?
Did you swap the hoses on the Oil Tank by mistake?
The Oil Pump should be connected to the Fitting on the Oil Tank Labeled OUT.
The Oil pump should NOT be connected to the fitting on the Tank that enters at an angle.

Remove the hose from the Oil Pump and pressurize the Oil Tank through the Oil Tank Vent hose to ~5psi.
Oil should stream out the open hose. Be prepared to catch it!

Even if it lost its prime (unlikely), it would have reprimed itself in under 20 seconds.

You need to put a mechanical gauge in line to confirm if the low oil pressure is real and not just a bad sender or bad wire. You may also have air in the system that found its way around the sender.

oil has not been changed since last flight

first thing done was to verify operation of Flydat engine display. Put a resistor across wires from oil sender. Flydat registered 88 psi, so that is operational. Engine not turning obviously.

Removed oil pressure sender. Screwed in a manual gauge, brand new gauge, instead. Turned over engine. Saw no movement on gauge.

Then drained oil, checked lines, as described before. .

Try flushing out the oil cooler. Check the oil pressure regulator plug screw, spring and ball bearing (or mushroom). Have you removed these items lately? Maybe dropped the ball bearing? Kinks in any oil hose?

    Re-reading the opening post...
... Oil pressure was at 45. then 20 sec or so later a flashing red light on the dash started.
Noticed oil pressure on engine display was dropping. Killed eng,
This would indicate that oil was present and the regulator Spring and Ball are present and the Oil Pump was able to supply pressure.
After ~20 seconds the Oil Supply was depleted.

The question is, "Why did the Oil flow stop?"

There is either a blockage in the hoses or the far end of the hose no longer has an Oil Supply.

To confirm a Valid Oil supply without hose Blockage...
Remove the hose from the Oil Pump and pressurize the Oil Tank through the Oil Tank Vent hose to ~5psi.
Oil should stream out the open hose. Be prepared to catch it!

Better Yet!, Leave the Supply Hose attached and remove the cover from the Oil Pump and observe Oil entering the Gerotor when the Oil Tank is lightly pressurized.
