Engine was hard to start, outside temp around 50 F. Normal pre-flight checks, R/L ignition checks were good, 75 rpm drop each side.  Full power check after engine warmed up, no defects noted.  12 gallons fuel on board and feeding to carburetors.  Engine stopped just after liftoff at full power.  Engine had just undergone a 100 hr inspection 3 hours before sudden stoppage.  Only items changed were L/R carburetor bowl gaskets replaced with new. Ground run up after inspection and replacement of 2 carburetor bowl gaskets was normal, no defects noted.

    Well, what happened?

Did you end up back on the runway, in a field or in the trees???

What Aircraft?  Is 12 gallons a full tank or half-empty?

    AUX Fuel Pump?

    Does the engine run now???

How many takeoffs in those previous 3 hours?

What didi it sounds like just before the failure.

Instant seizure?  Coughing and Sputtering?  Rev'd up as it leaned out?

    Details, Details, Details!!!  ???

... Must have been a decent landing to still have you here, so good on you;  lots of nasty (gorgeous) terrain around hurricane utah!

In addition to Bills response, please provide us the hrs on your eng. & an assurance the fuel valve(s) were set to open!

Does a " 100 hr insp" indicate you are using this as a training-comm. aircraft ?

I'd insist the mechanic go up on the next takeoff ... give her a reason to get it right!

    Thnx for posting /  jg

Following answer is required for proper fault diagnosis:

    1. Did you check Fuel pump pressure or not?
    2. Ignition grounding cable may be loose, during liftoff at full power the ignition circuit may be kill the engine due to grounding. The engine cable may be short/ground with body or touched with the throttle pull conditions?
    3. Air box hoses properly checked? air filter replaced/changed or not?

Kindly tell us what you have carried out during 100 hrs?
