I'd very much appreciate a decoding of the applicability for this SB. Maybe it's just me, but I find section 1.1 to be confusing.

Does this SB apply to a fuel pump assy. p/n 889697 (UNF) with 2 individual electric pumps assy. p/n 889691?

And, does the s/n range refer to the fuel pump assy or to the individual electric pumps?

Thanks very much.

After some study, it seems I've answered my own question...

There's both a supplier [part] number 889694 and BRP Rotax assy. part number (889691) on the individual electric fuel pumps themselves. Why the SB was written as it was, referencing the supplier [part] number first, is beyond me. To my mind, the SB should have called out the BRP Rotax p/n(s) of the pump(s) with the supplier number, and then s/n range (in the form XX.XXXX as they're actually printed). Maybe there are other fuel pumps from the supplier that don't bear the 889691 Rotax p/n, but are still affected? I don't know.
Unfortunately for me, it looks like both of my
    889691 fuel pump(s) are affected.

    Rich,

I was initially confused in exactly the manner you were and came to the same conclusion eventually. It is very confusing the way it is written. I am certainly not happy, as I am in the same position as you with two pumps that are in the same serial number range of those impacted.  Rotax provides zero details of the issues with the pumps or the number of failures that may have occurred. Without providing any details, they say they need to be R&R'd within one year. I am told by others that they have contacted a Service center and been told that currently, no replacement pumps are available. So...we have not been provided and facts and data about the failures with the pumps. However, Rotax feels it is serious enough to release a Mandatory Service Bulletin, but no parts are available to replace if one wanted to.

Certainly not where I expected to be when I decided to invest significant money in what I thought to be the highest quality engine available for my aircraft.
