Strange metal hoses on Savannah S

Wow! They look hard to seal. I would also speculate; prone to vibration cracking (fatigue).

I remember seeing these on a website documenting the build of Savannah S fuel tanks, so I looked it up again.  Scroll down a few pages to see the photos of fuel lines. Apparently they were stainless steel and came with the kit - at least back in 2014.

Thank you Jeff,.. You've got a very good memory. The second owner mentioned that the builder had installed these, I would've never expected that this type of rippled line would come with the kit.

They do come with the kit. Even if you buy the plane ready to fly , this is what you will get. The oil lines are too narrow in diameter and I know that on a 915 installation (ICP Ventura a/c) , the factory send rubber hoses as replacement due to low oil pressure. After the installation of the rubber hoses, oil pressure was back to normal. The stainless steel lines are quite durable and never seen them failing. I’ve used the same stainless steel hoses for coolant in my other plane as well, as it helped me to route them in tight corners and bends. I would definitely change the oil lines to rubber , keep the coolant lines and about the fuel lines…well they haven’t failed up to now (four and a half years) so it’s up to you to decide. 

Dear Spiros, Thank you for your input! I will replace the fuel lines in the engine compartment and leave the rest of the lines.
