Sadly it's a mess.... many of the leases expire in under 2 years. I guess we will see then. But it absolutely destroys the resale value for the guys that are older and want to sell their hangars. I know of 3 people besides myself that would like to buy a hanger and not one of us are willing to spend $60k or more for a hangar that can be "taken" by some clever language. It's why I've bought my own airfield in Hereford..
Some of the leases do include a clause that allows the owner to sell their hangar, and a few I know of are considering dismantling theirs to sell the actual building.
TAA thinks they should own the hangars, and they're probably right, that way they can maintain them to their standards, and sadly, stop people from living in their hangars. The FAIR thing to do is to have each hangar appraised and let TAA buy them from the owners, but again, they simply want to take them... I see lots of dollars being spent on legal fees... so I'm out.
