Have the above which has 300 hrs and would like to do the top end overhaul.
Has anyone had any experience with the "Power sport supply co "piston and gasket kit?
A vacuum check on the bearing came in at .045 which seemed ok for the hrs.

Thanks

    Howard,

The 300 hr. overhaul is a complete overhaul. Crank seals, bearings et.al. If you are just going to do a top end, you probably don't need pistons. Do a compression check first. If it's OK just pull the cylinder head and jugs, remove the pistons and clean them. While everything is apart, you could clean the cylinder walls with a bottle brush hone and put in some new rings if necessary. If you do remove or replace the rings, be sure to note the pins inside the ring grooves and seat the rings with the open end at the pins. MAKE SURE that the pistons are replaced with the ring pins away from the exhaust port. There is an arrow stamped in the top of the piston to mark which way they go. Put the pistons in with the pins at the exhaust side and you will destroy the engine. Other than that, it's a fairly easy job. I have seen people clean the pistons without removing them but I wouldn't recommend it. If the crud you remove from the piston tops and grooves gets down in the crankcase it could cause problems.

    Howard,

If you've never done a 582 before, you are going to enjoy it. It is a well built, well engineered little engine.

Go to the california power systems- airwolf website

    www.cps-parts.com/

Click on rotax engines and parts on the left side of the page, then click on tech articles. You will find a gold mine of info there to help you.
