Motor keeps running when both magnetos are switched off.

Is this a brand new installation or an engine that has been running a while and this just popped up?

Look at the back of the ignition switch connections and up at the two 6 pin connectors and make sure the two white wires are grounded from start to finish. Sounds like a broken connection at either end or possibly the two white wires have been rubbed and abraded and are now broken.

Its a long shot but one guy I know had the ignition wires connected to 12 volts! he misunderstood the system. He had to turn his master off to kill the engine.

To roger. The motor has done 138 hrs. Can't see any breaks in the 2 wires.

So I take it this just came out of no where and it has been working normal up to this point?
Do you have separate switches or a rotary switch?
If this was acting normally then all of a sudden you can't turn it off it has to be either the ignition switch or those wires have broken or have become disconnected somewhere.

roger, I just developed the same type problem.
I have a 912 80horse and when I went to shut down, the engine actually "diesled" for three or for seconds.
I restarted the engine and let it idle at 2000 for about thirty seconds, I shut off the master, then the two toggle switches for the the mags (CDI) simultaneously. The engine continued to sputter for a moment, then died.
then I shut off the ignition at the key.

I balanced the engine two days ago, it purrs like a kitten. the mechanical balance is good and I have an 1800 rpm idle at the stops. I did adjust the idle screws under the carbs but I will probable turn that back to the original today during troubleshooting.
    Any ideas?
