It's not an auxiliary pump, ut's a solenoid. He canceled the choke and used this solenoid as primer. Pics include.

Well I think you have two choices.
1) remove it and go back to the standard choke, this way you can have support from Manuals and other users.
2) Ask the old owner to fix his custom system.
I believe number 1 would be the best long term solution.

Daniel, as others said, the choke is what is normally used.
But it you really want to use your primer, the connection on the carbs is
where there is that little screw plug ( #58 on drawing attached)
near the rubber socket,
just beside the " idle mixture screw "

I think I will go with the choke. there's no gain in using primer as I can see. I overhauled my carbs with new carbs kit and the choke is functional.
