I saw this video on YouTube:

Has anyone tried it and for those who have installed this system what do you think?

Also, what does the forum community think ?

The vibrations of the carburetors seem to me to be a problem ...

I had considered designing a similar system. After studying how Rotax rubber mounted the carburetors, (probably to isolate them from vibration), I realized that to make a crossover linkage work properly it would require the carbs to be mechanically connected to each other either physically or through the common linkage shaft. This would defeat the vibration isolation and probably create more issues than it solves.

Walt , I was also thinking the same thing as you.?

I'm curious to know the experience of those who have installed this system ?

Its a great concepts - first hatched in New Zeeland? and refined in Australia I believe.

It seems to me that there will always be compromises in engineering.

The prospective installer will need to weigh the benefits of more consistent/accurate throttle action, against some likely reduction in carburettor vibration isolation (from the rubber manifold mounting).

I think there is potential to have a "hybrid" set up ie  having a rod system, like Mike Kyles, to the firewall and then short, adjustable Bowden style cables to each carburettor. This would preserve the carburettors vibration isolation, greatly improve throttle actuation accuracy/consistency and still be flexible enough to accommodate engine movement - might even be cheaper & lighter.

I have a friend who owns a Zenair and has a throttle system exactly as you describe.

His carburettor timing adjustment is the only one in my club that never moves!

I know this because I made a servo to do this synchronization adjustment remotely, ie in the cockpit, away from the propeller.

This servo is fixed on one of the carburettors and moves the sheath of the cable apart or closer as needed, and it's so practical that the whole club comes to see me to check and adjust the carburettors!

    Yes!

That's just what I had in mind. Unusual in that it combines the best of cable/rod & linkage operation, with non of the disadvantages found in "pure" installations.

One day I might fit something similar to my Sonex - will put up with the cable system until then.

Bit worried about the clear tube and fuel filter in the engine compartment ????
