Re: EGT lag in one cylinder after start

Hi Steven,
Has Lockwood asked for your ECU download data?
If they haven’t, can you upload it to the forum so we can look and see what’s going on?

Yes, I checked all the lifters immediately after the first engine run and found one that was soft, though that was on a different cylinder than the one with this issue (4 not 2). Running the engine again for 5 min at 3500 RPM resolved that. However, a Lockwood tech told me yesterday that it's possible the lifter is leaking, in which case it could be hard immediately after running but soften later after oil drains out. They suggested re-testing the lifters on a cold engine to check, and I plan to head up to the hangar this afternoon to do that. Will let you know. Thanks for the response!

I sent the Lockwood folks the EFIS data, but they said getting the BUDS data is the key next step. I don't have a BUDS dongle, though, so I'm trying to locate one locally. Yesterday I called a local FBO that I think has one and am waiting to hear back. If not, I'll find someone else who does.
Here's a link to the EFIS data for one of my ground runs. If you have any insights I'd appreciate hearing them!

hi Steven
I think you misunderstand. The Dynon data is from the instrument side, not the maintenance side of the ports. The Rotax ECU data is only found on the maintenance port. The diagnostic software from Rotax only reads the BUDS data.
cheers

Thanks for clarifying, Rotax Wizard. I mistakenly said ECU data in my post above instead of EFIS data, so I just corrected it to avoid confusion. The EFIS data is interesting, but of course it doesn't tell the whole story. I'm eager to see what the ECU data says once I get access to a BUDS dongle.
