  • Re: Flashing Lane B after initial start and warm up

Evan, I took a look at he G3X logs over the last year, plotted coolant temps for many flights.  I note that in general the indicated levels are 10  to 20C higher than last winter, in the warm up phase. Also the stady state in flight coolant temp is about 10C higher. I am begining to think it could be the coolant sensor gone off. Will investigate.

    I resolved this issue.

It looks like the coolant water level was too low and has reduced over the year presumably due to evaporation over hot flights in the summer. Then when I got to the autumn, the coolant level was lower and the coolant temperatures were 10 to 20C higher because of the low coolant level in the system.

Even though oil and coolant temps were within limits, the Rotax 915is ECU throws a lane B error because the oil and coolant temp are too far apart (more than 50C).

(I had wrongly assumed that if the header tank showed level ok then coolant was ok. But it seems that the coolant needs to be topped up at the filler cap occasionally).

Thanks everyone for your help especially Evan Brunye who started me thinking by simply noting that my coolant temps were far too high.
