# of o-rings in a Bing 54?
(BTW, this is related to another thread of mine on rising EGT temps. I am told that cracked boots (sockets) could be sucking air in and leaning the mixture, resulting in higher EGTs.)
So I watched an excellent video by Brian Carpenter on the EAA website on the disassembly of the Bing 54.
Then I ordered 2 carb repair kits from Lockwood Aviation.
So here's the problem: the video shows 4 o-rings but there's only 3 in the repair kit! What's up with that LOL?
And of course there is no indication on Lockwood's website, or in the kit itself which I just received, that says which o-rings are included.
Now, you guys out there with gobs of maintenance experience, you can all have a laugh (and a drink) at my expense! I'm good with that. But I have NO (did I say NO? Yes, I did) maintenance experience. So not only am I dealing with the stress of doing it for the first time, but if the kit has 3 o-rings and the video shows 4, what's a neophyte supposed to do?
I want to have all the parts on hand before I pull the carbs off...I think that's a good plan. And I will order the fourth o-ring if someone can tell me which one it is!
Now come on. I know someone out there has done this before...it's a 150 hr maintenance item...
Talk to me, Goose.
