Thanks for the info, out of interest what hight should the fuel be in the float bowls .

    Hi Andy,

Unless the fuel level is really low or too high and possibly over flowing I just make sure the float arm armature is the prescribed 10.5mm in height from the bowl edge to the top of the armature. Approx. 1/4" from the top, but the only way to be accurate is to check the float arm height for proper adjustment. Visual is only ballpark. If there is no reason to be suspicious that the level is out of whack then they are most likely okay.

The oil temp has dropped a further 7 or 8 degC by placing a length of inch by inch foam under the cooler and attached to the cowling to fill the gap,so more air is forced through the cooler. Happy days.

    Andy,

I was flying my Eurostar at the weekend in the balmy 15degC ambient air and my oil was 95degC in the cruise. In a sustained climb it goes to about 110degC and so I was wondering what temp I would get if we were flying in a warmer climate.

I think my oil cooler is the same as yours and it also doesn't protrude into the main airflow. Instead it just relies on air passing through the cowling from the openings behind the prop.

My coolant and heat temps are always low, approx 70degC.

It sounds like you have remedied your problem now but I thought you might like to see my figures for comparison.

My 912 ULS on Sunday was 109C, 5400rpm at 20C ambient, flat and level.
Generally at 5200rpm or so, I'm getting 100C or slightly above.
You have to remember getting it hot is good for cooking off the moisture in the oil.
I've got no issues taking it to 113/114 in the climb.....
In summer it stays "in the green" (under 110C)in cruise but I need to watch it on climb out as it can increase rapidly.
