Thanks, Guys,,,,,since I posted the above, I turned on the Skyview and the oil pressure doesn't have a red x over it, but reads a number 4.
I tried to trace the wire, but didn't have time to remove the bottom cowl, will do in the am. I, too, suspected the wiring and will try to track it in the a.m.

I agree most likely not a real oil pressure issue. Usually when you see red xxx's it's wiring. A bad connection or broken wire. Could even be the connection came off the sender.

A big red "X" on SV usually means a disconnection (open circuit) in the sensor electrical line. If you see a "4", that usually means that the SV is connected and seeing some form of signal from the OP sensor (the sensor is not very accurate at very low pressure values and thus rarely shows a true "0"). It is not unusual to see the SV indication alternating between the big red "X" and some other positive value if there is an intermittent break in the electrical line -- particularly when the engine is operating / vibrating. This happens all the time on the EGT indications due to the tiny diameter wires and difficulty in crimping the terminals.

On the RV-12, you likely have the OP sensor / wiring connection on the right side of the oil pump housing. On some RV-12s, the OP sensor has been relocated via a pressure hose to the firewall. Check the wiring connection at this plug. If that doesn't solve your issue, inspect the full length of the OP wires and all connections.

In very rare occasions, it could be a defective sensor, but my money (actually, your money) is on an open electrical connection in the wiring.
