A&P came and replaced the line (adding a firesleeve), purged the oil system, did an oil change and then compression check. Everything looked great. Partner flew it back and no problems. A&P suggested rerouting the hose away from the exhaust when doing the five year rubber this summer.

After this happened to us we replaced this line with stainless steel braided Teflon. Never had a problem after that.

In the photo of the other 914 aircraft that you posted, I believe those blue oil hoses are silicone. It would be interesting to know if the factory built it that way or the owner changed them after a similar event to what you experienced.

Hi Jeff,
I use Blue oil hose and they are Parker high pressure high temp hose. I've been using them since 2003 without any issues. CPS used to sell them. All fuel and oil hoses should be in fire sleeve to protect them from contributing to an engine fire making it far worse. That hose in his picture looks like the ones I use.
