I'm sure you are correct Rob, but I was never going to consider changing anything. All I wanted to know was people's opinions on the now standard soft start. But thank you for your time and advice.

    Hi Rob

Thanks for that, I'm glad you spotted the deliberate mistake  . It was more of an idea than a recommendation. I suppose it could still be done using the wide gear on the 912ul, but it was just a thought to have the benefit of the slipper clutch without the drawback of the 30 degree slip in the standard 912ul. I know there is the issue of the gear reduction as well.

    Cheers Mark

    Hi Steve

Do you know if you have a slipper clutch fitted to your gearbox. If you have it is quite important to check the pre load torque periodically to make sure it stays tight. If it starts to wear, it can cause issues that you wouldn't have if you had the standard fit, none slipper clutch gear box.

    Cheers Mark

Hi Mark to be honest I don't know, we just bought the standard 80hp 912ul from CFS. I'm guessing it is not standard with a slipper clutch! Do you know how I would be able to check. Sorry if I seem thick but it never occurred to me when I ordered the engine.

Building the CH701 was hard enough for us!

Hi Mark, just thought I would let you know I disconnected the soft start and re balanced the carburetors I also re adjusted the choke cables so both chokes were operating together ( there was a slight difference when the choke lever was operated) when I started the engine today to go flying it started perfectly, just how I remembered my old planes 912ul did.

So really pleased about that and thank you for your time and advice
