At sometime in the past Rotax changed the design of the cylinder head temp sensor. The new design senses coolant temp. What is the history behind this design change?
Thanks,

Hello Roger,
I would like to provide additional information regarding your previous message. I need to replace one cylinder head in my 912 ULS from 2011. My AP has advised me to replace all four cylinder heads, but this would be too expensive for me. After checking three catalogs, I found:
Catalog 2013
Still valid PN was 623-697 (probably my CH)
New PN 413-195
Catalog 2017 / 2021
New PN 413-195
Furthermore, I found a service instruction regarding this change at http://legacy.rotax-owner.com/si_tb_info/serviceinfo/si-912-020r7.pdf. According to this document, different versions of cylinder heads can be intermixed. Therefore, it may not be necessary to change all four cylinder heads as my AP suggested.
Thank you for your message, as it has helped me avoid making a potentially costly mistake.
