no springs?  sounds like you do not have a factory exhaust.  I have never seen a "flex" on any Rotax exhaust system so I would assume you have a system made by the aircraft builder  or OEM and not the original part from Rotax.  In that case there would be no way to predict what may happen.

    Cheers

The four header pipes are clamped into the muffler.

As far as I know this plane has never been modified in any way since new.

Perhaps another option however I don't know how I get on fitting an aftermarket system to a Type Certified aircraft?

    Hi Phillip,

In general for any factory-built aircraft, your best bet for non-Rotax replacement components is usually the aircraft manufacturer or their local agent. Your profile picture shows what appears to be an Evektor Sportstar or Harmony - if that is in fact your aircraft, the Illustrated Parts Catalogue is available as a free download on Evektor's website. If you find the part you need in the catalogue, you should be able to order a new part through the manufacturer or their Australian dealer.

If you wish to install an aftermarket exhaust system, it is important to first establish for certain whether your aircraft is actually type certified or an LSA (S-LSA for anyone reading this from the US) because your options for having aftermarket modifications approved are significantly different between the two. Evektor produces both type certified and LSA versions of their aircraft.

These pipes are for sale on the internet. Note the flex as I have on my pipes. These also have the fittings for springs but a straight section on the bottom that looks like it is meant to be clamped into the muffler as mine is?

Yes mine is Type Certified so I'm limited to using original components. I'll take a look at the Evektor parts list. Thank you.
