Lately, on the first start of the day, my iS will start and run for 1-2 seconds then stop.  It always starts and runs on the 2nd attempt although it will drop in RPMs a few times before it begins to run smooth.  Any idea on what might be causing this?  It's never done this before.

I once had that problem. Turned out I hade introduced air into the fuel system by taking a fuel sample from the gascolator with the fuel selector in the off position. I cracked the fuel line fitting at the hose to fuel rail junction and bled the air off . The gascolator on my aircraft is just before the coarse filter. Fuel line then goes to the fuel pumps. So I assume I had created an air lock in the fuel pumps. Had I ran the pumps longer before attempting a start the situation may have resolved its self.

I don't think that is my issue - I have never put the fuel selector in the off position.

    Anyone else have a suggestion?

You should check your fuel lines mainly the lines before the fuel pumps for any restriction or clogged filter.

Spoke to Lockwood today.  They said it usually has to do with system voltage.  I plan to install a new battery this week.  I'll post the results here.

The new battery did not solve the problem.  I currently have a 14 amp battery and it has been suggested that I upgrade to a 18 amp or a lithium battery.  Thoughts on this?
