    Hi Paul,

Some of your questions are so basic, as to be concerning eg "If there is bad or broken rings, where would listen for the air coming out as it goes down from the piston?"

This Forum is a great resource for solving problems and shooting the mechanical breeze BUT if you require this amount of mechanical " hand holding" perhaps do some courses and or find a mentor, that can oversee your efforts.

I would hate to think that some good Forum advice, had  been misapplied/understood resulting in an incident.😈

Oh my. You might want to Google Paul’s bio. This was also insanely uncalled for.

    Hi Nicholas,

I do not Google anyone's "bio"  and am not impressed by such.

"Handsome is as handsome does",  in this context - practical application of knowledge & experince.

All too often I have come across LAMEs (is he one?) who seem to be unable to apply their training to Rotax engines. I am surprised that such highly qualified engineers, are unable to do so, however what's important is they understand/recognise that they need an experienced Rotax mentor to assist them to make the transition.

I have no wish to offend Paul or anyone else however he has asked some very basic questions - this strongly suggests a fundamental lack of knowledge/understanding - could be dangerous. I hope he takes my advice😈.

Maybe he just forgot that part of his training because he doesn’t see this issue often. There are like four experienced Rotax mentors across the US, so you seem to live in an imaginary land. He’s coming on here for said mentorship anyways.

His questions are not basic. They’re covered in the higher levels of Rotax training courses (which are unrecognized coursework here).

It would be dangerous if he forgot parts of his training and then didn’t come here for assistance. What he’s doing isn’t dangerous at all and should be welcomed.

Your approach is dangerous. Perhaps you should find a different forum to be a curmudgeon on. I hope you take my advice.

Sometimes, even if I know something, or are 90% sure of the answer I ask the question again to get conformation and/or a different perspective,

Other times I ask a question to provide the answers to others who are trying to learn and I think it is an important topic.

Other times I ask questions to get discussion going to get perspectives related to the subject of which we all can learn.

Other times I may ask a question to provide an answer from someone else since they do not believe me.

I ask questions for more reasons than you might imagine.

Additionally, one of my goals is to learn something every day.

Not knowing my personal ethics, motivation, knowledge, experience or objectives in asking questions, probably better for people to not criticize who ever for asking questions. Who really knows what is going on. We should all be free to ask questions as we wish and not be criticized.

There is incredible knowledge and experience on this forum, with most taking their time to answer I guess "stupid questions all us should know" is greatly appreciated by most.

Sean, do not worry, I am not offended just disappointed.

Any way, things are not always as we perceive them. My advice is to try and understand first and not react.

    Hello Paul,

The questions you are asking are 100% reasonable, and anyone who suggests otherwise should NOT be participating in this forum (They will be dealt with accordingly). The entire purpose of this forum is to help people find the answers they need, and there is no such thing as a stupid question when seeking technical advice.

Please do not feel discouraged from asking anything. We truly value your input and participation in this forum.

With that said, it appears you have received great answers from Rotax Wizard, Eric Page, and Roger Lee.

    Best Regards

    Rotax-Owner
