If there is bad or broken rings, where would listen for the air coming out as it goes down from the piston?

    Hi Paul,

Think along these lines. If the valves and parts there have a good seal then air won't come out of the exhaust or intake. If the rings are bad where would that air go? Same place a small amount goes normally to return oil to the tank, but now far more and now you have a bigger test pressure drop.

So if it's only bad rings where is the air going?

If it were a bad valve and depending on which valve where would the air go? Which valve if the air is coming out the air intake?

Which valve if it's coming out the exhaust?

    Yep you got it. 😉

    Hi Paul,

Some of your questions are so basic, as to be concerning eg "If there is bad or broken rings, where would listen for the air coming out as it goes down from the piston?"

This Forum is a great resource for solving problems and shooting the mechanical breeze BUT if you require this amount of mechanical " hand holding" perhaps do some courses and or find a mentor, that can oversee your efforts.

I would hate to think that some good Forum advice, had  been misapplied/understood resulting in an incident.😈

Oh my. You might want to Google Paul’s bio. This was also insanely uncalled for.

Oil tank. More than normal. For valves, exhaust more than normal. Hi, Paul 👋🏻
