    Mike,

That's great news! Let us know how things work out with the stator.

The stator plate was fitted yesterday and she now starts fantasic. It barely cranks 2 turns before she fires up, whereas before was like 10.

I have now got another problem which manifested a week ago. Its unrelated to the stator plate as that was ongoing for a long time. Basically I have lost 700 rpm from somewhere. Will start a new topioc.

BTW.... had to remove engine to get to stator plate...sheeeresh, whos dumb idea was that?

Thanks for all who chimed in.... much apreciated.

    Mike,

If the RPM drop started immediately after you replaced the stator, I would suspect the timing. You may not have to remove the engine again. All you need to remove is the magneto cover.

Another area might be prop pitch if you have an IVO prop. I love the ease of setting an IVO but they do have a tendency to change pitch when you remove and reinstall them. If it starts well, accelerates and runs well, your EGTs and cylinder head temps are the same as before, and your mag drop is normal, try adjusting the pitch.

Hi Bill...good to see you again.

No mate, the drop happened one week before relacing the Stator...so I can discount that. It was a sudden thing...almost as if something died on the spot. On the friday before changing the ststor I flew it to a mates place and all was great...2 days later on the Sunday, I flew it for some circuits and on takeoff noticed a longer TO run and rpm only 6000.

The propellor is a CSC Systems wooden Canadian 3 blade prop. Never heard of it and neither has Google by the look of it. Hve no idea how to adjust it. Will have to study up on that one. If I cant fiond a fix I will look more into it... thanks Bill.

The prop sounds like a GSC. http://www.ultralightprops.com/ This link will take you to their home page.
