    Hi Jez,

Rotax would like everyone to change all their fuel, oil, coolant hoses, carb diaphragms and rubber engine mounts every 5 years. I have been doing these this year on our SLSA aircraft here in the US and so has many other mechanics. It is required if you have a 2006 SLSA and next year all the 2007 SLSA's will need to be done and so on. Many people here use the auto fuel injection fuel hose for their 912. You should use some type of band clamp to secure the fuel hose on the fittings. Either an Oetiker band clamp or a Band-It band clamp. Using the screw clamp on oil and fuel fitting isn't the best idea.
The picture 1134 in the small kit shows Oetiker band clamps for fuel lines. Fuel lines should not have screw clamps. The picture 1139 shows the Band-It tool and clamp for fire sleeve. In picture 1140 shows two types of screw clamps. Don't use the open slotted one on the left, but do use the raised rip one on the right for coolant hoses. The one on the left can be over tightened and slip in the slots then it is broken and useless. In picture sanyo 001 use the clamp on the left with the nut and screw. This one works well on the oil lines. It is a positive clamp that won't slip or fail and won't cut into the oil lines.

You know what's really interesting? In the 912 IPC, Rotax themselves, show a screw clamp on those lines. And yes, they are crappy clamps, too.

By the way, I've had a heck of a time finding Oetiker clamps locally, that are large enough for the oil lines. Where do you find yours?

    Hi Bob,

I buy mine from Chad's Tool Box. Usually in bags of a hundred any more. You can buy them separately too. You can get that kit from them and then just keep it stocked. I'm in the process of becoming an Oetiker dealer so I hope to be able to help all us LSA guys out here shortly.

Excellent.. Yes, they do seem to have a great selection of sizes. I've had a heck of a time finding anything larger than about a 12mm from many of the other sources, so I will use these people, too.

21mm clamps for the oil line, as I recall?

    Hi Bob,

I believe your correct on 21mm, but you could use the clamp in my last post #sanyo001. The one with the nut and bolt for an oil line. Oetikers are good too.
