    Thx Roger, that does help!
I ordered a Oetiker tool and clamps today. Along with some tape.

    Bill,
I compromised and ordered this stuff.
    F4 Tape - Self-Fusing Silicone Tape MIL-SPEC 1" X 36' (Red Oxide) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HETINI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vGWHCbZGXZ9P6
Has all the rating as the mil as ratings that Roger posted about earlier, but $13 for 36 ft. Even has the blue line down the center.
I called today about the Parker stuff, guy said he can get it for me for $44 a foot!
I will send u some of this stuff if you want. Assuming it's the same stuff since it has all the ratings.

Thank you said by: Bill Hertzel

I don't know about the Parker tape, but when using generic self fusing silicone tape for sealing the ends of firesleeve, be aware that the tape is not good at all with regards to susceptibility to abrasion. It is very soft and because it is stretched so tightly, if it gets even a little nick the energy stored in the wound up tape will slowly pull the tape apart and the end seal will become useless.

    Thx Ken,
I'll keep that in mind. I know 2 spots I will not be able to use it then

    Bill,
They are sending that fuseit tape.
If you email (amhst56@gmail.com) me your address, I'll send u some to test

You don't have to wrap it that tight. Mine aren't lose, but I don't stretch it too tight.

    Thanks, Aaron,

I feel that if it will survive a couple of weeks soaked in gasoline and a Cleaning Cycle (600°F+) in an electric oven for an hour, that is good enough for me.
I can compare it to my hardware store tape, a piece of real Fire Sleeve and maybe a bead of Red Automotive silicone sealant.
Someone is going to complain that it is not the real $40 a foot stuff. But we do with what we have.

Does anyone want to donate a few inches of the Genuine Parker Tape to the experiment? Any takers?

Email me when you have the tape and I will send you my street address.

    Bill.
