  • Re: Question about oil pressure and when it bypasses

The remote mount didn't solve the problem. It was at 40 for the first time or two, now it's at around 28 psi on takeoff.
40 to 50 every time I look except take off.

    Uuuggghhh!

Could it take a while for the air to fully get out of the remote mount?
    I did prefill it somewhat.

Air in the sender hose will have absolutely no effect on the pressure reading.
The air will just compress to the same pressure as the Oil.
    The sender measures pressure.
It does not care if is Air, Oil, Gasoline, or a mixture of any gasses and liquids.
    Pressure is pressure.

I would look very closely at the oil hoses from the Oil Tank to the Oil Pump.
This is a suction line and extremely sensitive to any restriction.
    Is there a thermostat installed?

Take the connector off the bottom of the oil Pump.
Let it drain into a gallon container.
Oil should free flow and drain the Oil tank in short order.
Expect a nice solid stream. This should not be a dribble.
Once the hose is empty, blow it out with some air.
Look for any debris in the oil.

Last 2 takeoff it was 40 psi.
    Perfect and steady!

    I do have a thermostat

Could it be air in the oil cooler since inlets are sideways instead of up?

The plane had 2 oil changes in the last 20 hrs. If you look at the Google link in one of the previous posts, I have a video of how the lines are run

The second video, the throttle was locked in at 2000rpms and pressure varied from 38 to 48.

I put a jumper ground on the black from the guage, but it did nothing.

Bill, before I take the oil hoses off, the mechanical guage read 40 psi.
